Homeschool Tutoring
At Monterey Tutoring, we understand the unique needs of students who are being homeschooled. We will work with the curriculum you have chosen for your homeschool student, and can provide supplemental materials where necessary. We can tutor your homeschooler during the day, in order to comply with state laws that may require that instruction for homeschoolers take place from 8am to 4pm.

The California Homeschool Network is a great place to start! You can find a wealth of information covering everything from how to homeschool to contact info. for local support groups on their site. Their resources page also has an extensive list of materials and information covering academic subjects, and more!
How can Monterey Tutoring help your child?
You have several options on how the tutoring will take place. When you first decide to homeschool your child, you will need to choose the program and curriculum that you feel is best for your homeschooler. There are many options available, from working with a local school, to correspondence and online courses. We will work with whatever you choose. We may even be able to make suggestions as far as materials and resources that may be helpful to you.
If you or a family member will be the primary instructor for your child, you may want a tutor to come once or twice a week to help reinforce the material, give a fresh perspective, or help with large assignments and projects. If you have more than one child who is being homeschooled, it may be helpful to have a tutor there during the day to help answer questions while you are working with your other children. Some parents prefer to work with their homeschool students on the majority of their coursework, but want to have a tutor for one or more specific subjects.
If you want to enjoy the flexibility of homeschooling and choosing their children’s curriculum, but have a credentialed Tutor work with your children exclusively, we can help you. While most of our tutors hold teaching credentials, please note that a credential is a requirement if the tutor will be the main instructor, so please be sure to request a tutor with a teaching credential. Also, a credentialed tutor is required to work with your homeschool students a minimum of three hours per day during the week.
